Sam Fisher, 14/15 Kulas Composer Fellow, on his composition process for “Fire on the Water”

Sam Fisher

Fire on the Water has been extremely challenging and opened up some really joyous discoveries. I have no habits or conventions for designing a show like this. Every second of the day I am asking myself “Okay, how am I going to go about this?” in regards to some new piece of the puzzle which needs a whole creative process behind it to reach fruition. It gives me a collector’s sense of enjoyment to look at the diversity of shiny musical moments in the play and at the many disparate worlds which the scenes inhabit. It forms a kind of collage where the material of one world shreds the reality of another, where rebel strands of time and place run raids on a linear narrative, and where an idea flows freely from one embodiment to another.”

SPOILER ALERT!
